  • First time buying industrial plastic pallets – what should I look for?

Our company has always used wooden pallets for shipping because they're cheap and easy to find, but honestly I'm tired of dealing with broken boards, nails sticking out, and the occasional pest issue that comes with wood. My boss finally agreed to let me switch over to plastic but now I'm overwhelmed by all the different types. Some are solid top, some are open, some have grippy surfaces, some are smooth. I was looking at https://www.crateco.ae/ and they seem to have a decent selection but I don't even know what questions to ask. We ship mostly automotive parts in cardboard boxes, nothing too heavy, but the pallets get forklifted and stacked maybe three or four high in a container. Do I need the reinforced ones with steel inserts or is that overkill? Also, how do plastic pallets hold up in the summer heat if they sit on a tarmac for a few hours before loading? I've heard some can get soft and warp. I'd love to hear from anyone who made the switch from wood to plastic and whether you regretted it or wished you'd bought a different style. Budget is a factor but I'd rather spend a bit more now than replace them in two years.

  • Quick shoutout – finally got my Accord's battery sorted properly

Just wanted to share a good experience for once because usually I'm on here complaining lol. My 2016 Honda Accord has been struggling to start in the mornings for about two weeks, and I kept putting it off thinking it would hold out a bit longer. Then yesterday I went to grab coffee after work and the car just clicked, nothing else. Had to ask a guy for a jump start which was embarrassing enough. A coworker recommended I check out the https://batteryzoneuae.com/honda-battery-replacement/ instead of going to the dealership and paying triple the price. I was a bit skeptical because I've had bad experiences with some battery shops in Sharjah where they rush the job or leave the terminals loose, but these guys actually knew what they were doing. They had the correct group size in stock, cleaned the corrosion off the terminals, and even reset the radio presets for me which I didn't expect. Total was 380 dirhams including fitting and disposal of the old one. Car fires up instantly now. Anyone else had good or bad luck with aftermarket batteries on Hondas? I've heard some of the cheaper brands only last a year here.
