What Is Yoga
Yoga is a comprehensive system of spiritual exercises and techniques designed to unite the mind, body, and spirit in order to achieve enlightenment, or a state of unity with the cosmos. What is commonly referred to as "yoga" in the West is actually Hatha Yoga, one of the many varieties of yoga. All yoga paths eventually lead to unity and enlightenment, despite emphasizing different techniques and strategies.
Through the practice of asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (yoga breathing), mudras (body gestures), and shatkarma (internal cleansing), Hatha Yoga achieves the unification of mind, body, and spirit. These exercises support the body's natural process of purifying and enhancing prana, or life force energy. In contemporary Hatha Yoga, greater emphasis is placed on the asanas than a lot of these esoteric exercises.
Even without specific objectives in mind, yoga poses are an excellent means of strengthening your body and mind.
