It always gives you that boost to try
"I'm most pleased with the players, the WOTLK Gold community, the players. We had no idea when we released WoW Classic how popular it would be sincere." -John Hightt. John Hight
Brian Birmingham: Actually, I spoke with some players who claimed that they were gracious in Classic in part to make up for being friendly 15 years ago. We wanted to create an entirely new relationWarcraft with a more positive attitude. Yes, everyone's a bit more grown up and even in their thoughts.
The reception toward The Burning Crusade was near-unanimous applause. It was your first expansion to WoW What did that make you feel at the time, and what effect did those positive reviews affect your process of development and goals in the future?
Brian Birmingham: Oh my gosh. I can remember it being such a big lift. I was a fairly new employee back then, but I remember I went to the midnight signing. We used to do these midnight signings, where we would be out signing people's special editions and regular boxes. They would queue up at midnight to purchase them. And it was so exciting to experience that, hearing the stories from the original creators about lines that would go around the building. So we were able to hold them at several locations and it was wonderful for the fans to come out and celebrate with us.
It always gives you that boost to try and push yourself more than you've already tried to do everything as well as you can. It's one of the things I like about BlizzCon currently is that we are able to connect with our cheap WOTLK Gold fans and feel their enthusiasm, it's what really fuels us. This is why I am eager until we get to experience BlizzCon in person.
