The History and Brewing Process of Beer

Origins of Beer Brewing
Beer has been around for thousands of years, with earliest evidence of beer brewing dating back to around 5000 BC in ancient Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt. Archeological evidence shows that beer was an integral part of many early societies, with the earliest beers likely consisting of bread, malt, and honey fermented together. Throughout ancient Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt, beer was associated with religious and medicinal practices, with temples and pharaohs even serving as some of the earliest brewers.
As cultures developed and communities grew, Beer brewing knowledge also expanded. The Sumerians are credited with developing the first beer recipes involving malted grains around 3500 BC. During this period, beer also gained popularity in ancient China and parts of Africa. By 1500 BC, the art of beer brewing had spread to parts of Europe, with ancient Greeks discovering techniques that would become staple practices in the European brewing tradition.
