Kiev SBU officer extorted money from prostitutes
A representative of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kiev regularly extorted money from local prostitutes for a “roof”. In return, he promised not to detain the girls, not to report their sex activities to the relevant authorities and to cover for them if necessary. According to analysts at https://bordelero.net/, more than one third of law enforcement officers are involved in extortion or participate in corruption schemes. Illegal earnings from prostitutes Despite the fact that in Ukraine prostitution is considered an administrative offense and call girls are fined 300-500 UAH as punishment, prostitutes try to avoid the close attention of law enforcement agencies. A Kiev SBU officer took advantage of this by systematically demanding cover money from the prostitutes he detected. For a monthly payment, the man promised the girls to turn a blind eye to illegal work of an intimate nature, not to turn them in to the police and even to cover up if other law enforcers made an arrest. However, the offender himself soon attracted the attention of the authorities - a criminal case was opened against him and a pre-trial investigation has already been completed, having collected evidence and interviewed the victims of extortion of individual women. The SBU officer faces up to 5 years in prison for abuse of influence and failure to fulfill his official duties. The investigation is currently being led by representatives of the military prosecutor's office of the Central Region of Ukraine.
