Whether you are planning to make this crunchy toast for breakfast or dinner, Pan con tomate can easily be paired with any other food dishes out there. This Spanish tomato toast is surely one of our favorites. Well, let’s not waste any time further and quickly dive into the delicious recipe of Pan Con Tomate. 

Pan Con Tomate Ingredients List! 

  • 3-4 Fresh and big red Tomatoes, we are using Beefsteak Tomatoes here
  • Traditional Tuscan Bread, you can also use Baguette, Ciabatta or French Bread here 
  • 1-2 tsp. of sea salt 
  • 1 tsp of Sherry vinegar (optional)
  • 4-5 garlic cloves 
  • 1-2 tbsp. of olive oil
  • Black pepper as per taste

Pan Con Tomate Full Recipe Guide! 

  1. To make Pan Con Tomate Spain style, first, grab a medium-sized bowl and a grater. Wash your tomatoes and with the help of a grater, start grating your fresh and red tomatoes within the bowl. If you want you can also cut the tomatoes in halves and put them in the food processor. 
  2. Remember, we are not looking for a runny tomato puree here, this Spanish tomato toast tastes the best when you get a tomato bite here, thus, it is totally fine if you have a bit of tomato chunks in your puree. 
  3. Season your tomato puree with some sea salt, crushed black pepper and a good drizzle of olive oil. Don’t forget to give it all a good mix with a spatula or regular-sized spoon. For some additional taste, we have also used some Sherry vinegar here, but that is totally optional. If you want, you can also grate 2 to 3 garlic cloves and mix them with the tomato puree. 
  4. Next, move on to the bread, to get the authentic taste, we have used traditional Tuscan Bread here, but you can surely use any bread of your choice. Slice the bread and toast these bread pieces slightly in the oven or pan. You can also put it in the air-fryer for a few minutes. 
  5. Once your bread pieces are nicely crunchy and toasted, rub the peeled garlic cloves on top of your toast. Here, you can also use confit garlic cloves! If you are using confit garlic cloves, then you can easily use a butter knife to generously spread the garlic clove on top of your toasted bread piece. 
  6. Now, spread your prepared tomato puree over the toasted bread pieces. Lastly, drizzle a bit of olive oil and serve this delicious Pan con tomate with some tasty scrambled eggs.
