Gimpo, Busan jump to 3rd with win

Chungbuk Cheongju FC exploded for goals against Bucheon.

Chungbuk Cheongju defeated Bucheon FC 1995 4-0 in the 18th round of the Hana Bank K League 2 2024 at Bucheon Sports Complex on Wednesday.

With the three points, Chungbuk Cheongju jumped up to seventh place with 24 points (5W9D4L). Bucheon remains in ninth place with 21 points.

Chungbuk Cheongju took the early lead in the 23rd minute through Yoon Min-ho, who rattled the net by slotting home a loose ball after Kim Byung-oh's shot. In the 35th minute, Hong Won-jin added another goal with a long-range shot from near the centerline. It was a wonder goal from over 40 meters out.

It wasn't the end of the story. In the 30th minute of the second half, Kim Sun-min made it 3-0 with his second goal of the season, and in the 41st minute, former Tottenham Hotspur youth player Odu scored the fourth goal of the game with a physical finish. Gimpo FC continued their winning streak with a 1-0 victory over Busan I-Park at the Gimpo Solter Soccer Stadium.

Lee Yong-hyeok's goal in the 45th minute was the difference in the match. Kim Min-ho sent a header into the box, where Lee Yong-hyeok headed the ball into the back of the net. Busan pushed forward in search of an equalizer, but Lee Hando's header hit the post in stoppage time.

Gimpo jumped to third place with 27 points (W8 D3 L5). Busan fell into a five-match winless streak (two draws and three losses) and remains in eighth place with 21 points (six wins, three draws and eight losses).

Cheonan City FC came from behind to beat Ansan Greeners 2-1 at Ansan Wah Stadium. 

Cheonan conceded the first goal in first-half stoppage time through Park Jun-bae, but Paulinho equalized just two minutes later to make it 2-1, and six minutes into the second half, Paulinho completed his hat trick to make it 2-1. Cheonan held off Ansan's offense for the remainder of the match to secure the three points.

Cheonan moved into 10th place with 20 points (5 wins, 5 draws, and 7 losses), setting the stage for a mid-table finish. Ansan remained at the bottom of the table with 13 points (3 W, 4 D, 10 L).
