Chinese mythology: Pan Gu created the world
Myths and stories exist in various regions of the world, each story brings a certain sense of freshness to people. Today I will tell a Chinese mythical story about how the universe was born. More Ancient Chinese History can be read on my blog. Due to the limited knowledge of people at that time, the universe we talked about here will be more accurate as we understand it as the earth.
Legend has it that a long, long time ago, the universe had not yet appeared. There was a huge planet floating in space, shaped like an egg. Inside the huge planet, there was a giant named Pan Gu, who was trapped by the huge planet and couldn't get out. So he kept hitting the huge planet with his ax, trying to save himself from there.
After 18,000 years of hard work, Pan Gu swung the final ax, only to hear a loud noise, the huge planet split into two halves. Half of the huge planet on Pan Gu's head turned into air and continued to rise, half of the huge planet below the feet turned into the land, constantly thickening. This process lasted for thousands of years, slowly forming sky and land. As the distance between the sky and the land got farther and farther, Pan Gu got taller and taller. He stepped on the land and supported the sky with his hands.
When Pan Gu was about to die, his body had undergone tremendous changes. His left eye turned into a bright red sun, his right eye turned into a silver moon, the last breath he exhaled turned into wind and clouds, the final sound turned into thunder, and his hair and beard turned into flashes of the stars, the head and limbs became mountains, the blood became rivers and lakes, the muscles became roads, the muscles became fertile ground, the skin and hair became flowers and trees, and the teeth and bones became gold, silver, and bronze, treasures of iron and jade, his sweat turned into rain and nectar. From then on there was a world.
