This is partly why I made the switch
OSRS feels much more like the true runescape I love playing than RuneScape gold. I was max half way to 120 thieving, and that I made the conscience decision that I had rather re-max every ability from level 1 in OSRS than play RS3 and grind out 1 99. I moved to OSRS recently for reasons. Coming out of a Dungeons and Dragons history (which much of ancient RS was very much based on) I have never had a campaign where our party made it past level 10.
Even with just like 3 years of playing with the exact same character. Building a character and fleshing them out durning the levels is super rewarding and the seeming impossibility of attaining the upper echelons makes the world seem vast and incredible. I made so many characters that were different back into pre-eoc because I embraced the Role-Playing facet of the MMORPG. I would just set myself challenges or possess a particular theme for the personality. Sure there must be plenty of end game content.
But it feels like that is all the community. My account is a f2p in RS3 with a 99s and a couple more not far off. I quit Runescape for a period of approximately five decades and returned October. Pretty much everyone I knew is just grinding out virtual 120s/200m and has maxed. Or maxing again on another/Ironman account. I am really close to my intentions of getting Prayer 99 Defence, and Magic, along with my buddy who has maxed in f2p requested me that ability I went to work on next. I had been really like. There won't be another. I'm getting these 99s because I like them or because they were childhood dreams. But I really don't put any value in maxing.
I'm not planning to do something I despise like Woodcutting or angling for hours just to find how the numbers go up. I mean, I might, if I was a child with all the time in the world. But in my life I need out of my spare time. I want something instead of afkable. I transferred to buy OSRS gold and created an Ironman. And I've put myself added thematic challenges and limitations. And while I could finally do the same thing in RS3, I find that OSRS's equipment system makes account assembles more rewarding to playwith. And the community (especially YouTube content creators) is way more enthusiastic about that type of game play.
