How to shoot the prey while hunting?
How to aim at prey and hit it quickly when hunting requires professional skills. This article will explain how to shoot the target while hunting.
When hunting with tools like guns or bows, hunters should aim at the animal's torso. It is recommended to avoid targeting large muscle groups and bones and instead aim at the heart and lungs as the main targets. Unless you are using shotguns on birds, the head of the prey is not usually targeted. This is because the heads of wild animals are in constant motion, making it a relatively small target, and the thick skull is very protective, resulting in a low fatality rate even with a successful hit. In the case of horned prey, if the head is destroyed, it may also damage the integrity of the horns. Therefore, it is still best to focus on the torso.
When hunting, it's not ideal to shoot directly behind the prey as it's not a good shooting angle. The muscles and bones around the buttocks of animals provide good cushioning and can greatly reduce the chances of a successful shot. However, when hunting certain poultry prey like turkeys and pheasants, shooting from directly behind is a classic and effective method.
Another aspect of the shooting angle is the pitch angle. It should be noted that in addition to using shotguns and traditional bows when shooting birds with decelerated fletching, try not to shoot upwards. Bullets and bows cover very long distances when fired upwards, so accidents may occur if you are not careful. Due to the angle problem when shooting from above, the target area will be narrow and small. At the same time, some prey such as wild boars and deer will subconsciously lean down due to the sound when shooting, so the position of the preview also needs to be adjusted according to your shooting equipment.
The hunting distance usually depends on the equipment and personal skills. For firearms, it is usually within 200 yards, and for bows and crossbows, it is mainly within 70 yards. Of course, these distances will also determine the final shooting conditions based on the terrain environment at the time.
The ultimate requirement of shooting is to kill the prey quickly and accurately to avoid the prey struggling for a long time or escaping. Reduce the risks you may face and the suffering of your prey.
