Why do people hunt?
Hunting animals for meat and selling their skins for money is still very common at the grassroots level. For some hunter families, hunting is their main source of income, especially rural families in remote areas. At present, society's demand for wild animals is still relatively large, and the price is far higher than that of poultry and livestock.
Some hunting is done to protect crops from wild animals. Plant in spring and harvest in autumn. After a year of hard work, the autumn harvest season is ushered in. However, in autumn, wild animals such as wild boars, black bears, and porcupines on the mountain will come down to eat the crops. City people only have a vague idea of the extent of damage caused to wild animals, but for farmers facing the loess, a farmer only has a few acres of land, and a group of wild boars can destroy crops on several acres of land in one night. This causes severe damage to their economy.
However, for more people in modern cities, hunting is a hobby and a healthy outdoor activity. Hunting locations are mostly in remote rural areas. It belongs to a forested and mountainous area with a beautiful environment and fresh air. Go outdoors with your family or friends, wander among the mountains and rivers while hunting, appreciate the beautiful scenery of nature, breathe the fresh air, suspend the pressure of work and life, and relax your mood. Hunting often requires carrying guns, ammunition, and outdoor equipment, walking long distances to find and chase prey, trekking through mountains and rivers, walking through forests and farmlands, which is a strict test for the hunter's physical strength and perseverance, and is a good physical exercise. Moreover, cooking the game you hunt yourself has a unique taste.
Some hunters travel to every corner of the world at the expense of time and money to hunt their favorite prey and gain a great sense of accomplishment from it. To them, the dazzling display of hunting souvenirs is the best proof of their skills and achievements.
But there's more to hunting than just that. In modern life, people have lived in cities for a long time, and the relationship between people and nature has become increasingly alienated. Most people have no opportunity to truly contact hunting. When we review the millions of years of human evolutionary history and understand the code of conduct that hunting has given us, hunting teaches us to understand the wisdom and beauty of nature. We understand the value of life, and then learn to respect life.
