Ropark 1 mg Tablet is a medicine used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's disease (a movement disorder that affects your nervous system with symptoms such as stiffness, tremors, difficulty in walking, impaired balance and coordination, etc.).

Ropark 1 mg Tablet is also used in the treatment of restless legs syndrome (RLS). RLS is a nervous system disorder that causes discomfort in your legs and an irresistible urge to move the legs, especially at night and when sitting or lying down. 

Ropark 1 mg Tablet works by acting as a substitute for dopamine, which is a natural chemical substance in your brain that helps regulate the movements of your body.

Ropark 1 mg Tablet shows side effects like heartburn, upset stomach, nervousness, nausea, headache, constipation, swelling in your legs or feet, etc. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen. Ropark 1 mg Tablet may also cause dizziness or drowsiness. Hence, avoid driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience such symptoms after taking this medicine.  

Ropark 1 mg Tablet should be taken with food to avoid stomach discomfort. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of this medicine based on the severity of your condition. Avoid taking more than the prescribed dose as it may increase the risk of side effects. Also, take this medicine for the recommended duration for better results.

What is it prescribed for?

Parkinson's disease

Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder that affects your nervous system. Ropark 1 mg Tablet is used alone or in combination with other medicines to relieve the symptoms of Parkinson's disease, such as difficulty with body movements, restlessness, shaking of the limbs, anxiety, poor balance, etc.

 Restless legs syndrome (RLS)

Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a condition characterised by a constant urge to move the legs, especially when sitting or lying down or during nighttime. Ropark 1 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of restless legs syndrome (RLS).

When not to use?

Allergy

Avoid taking Ropark 1 mg Tablet if you are allergic to it. Seek medical attention if you experience symptoms such as a skin rash, hives (itchy, painful eruptions that sting), swelling (especially of the face, lips, tongue, etc.), breathing difficulty, etc.

Severe Kidney and/or Liver impairment

Ropark 1 mg Tablet is not recommended for use if you have severe liver or kidney problems as it may worsen your condition.

Warnings for special population

Pregnancy

Ropark 1 mg Tablet is not recommended for use in pregnancy as animal studies indicate that it may cause harm to the developing foetus. However, no adequate human data are available. Hence consult your doctor if you are pregnant. 

Breast-feeding

Ropark 1 mg Tablet is not recommended for use while breastfeeding as it may inhibit lactation. Also, it is unknown if this medicine passes into the breastmilk. 

General warnings

Driving or operating machines

Ropark 1 mg Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Hence, avoid performing activities that require high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience such symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Psychiatric conditions

Ropark 1 mg Tablet should be used with caution if you have mental conditions as this medicine may cause hallucination. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine. 

Use in the elderly

Ropark 1 mg Tablet should be used with caution in the elderly as the risk of side effects is significantly high. 

Use in children

Ropark 1 mg Tablet is not recommended in children below 18 years of age as the safety and efficacy data are not clinically established.

Withdrawal symptoms

Avoid abrupt discontinuation of Ropark 1 mg Tablet as it may cause withdrawal symptoms such as lack of interest in daily activities, anxiety, depression, fatigue, sweating, etc. Your doctor may gradually reduce the dose over a period to avoid such undesired effects.
