Packing for the holy pilgrimage
Every year, millions of pilgrims come to Makkah to take part in the holy rituals of hajj and umrah. People from all over the world who are on their umrah packages UK 2023 gather in Haramain to offer the pilgrimage. Islamic Travel offers 4 Star Umrah Packages with business class flights & luxury hotels for families . Umrah rituals can be done at any time of the year, while Hajj rituals can only be done once a year in the month of Dhu-al-Hijjah.
Getting ready for a holy trip is almost the same whether you are going on the required pilgrimage of Hajj or the recommended pilgrimage of Umrah. Still, one of the most common mistakes that people make when they travel is to bring too much stuff.
Traveling light for hajj and umrah is always recommended. Not only does it make it easier to handle your bags, but it also helps you stay more organized during your international stay. So, every pilgrim must only bring the things they need for their journey and nothing else.
Here is a quick list of things to bring on the holy pilgrimage.
Items for keeping yourself clean
- Taking care of your oral and personal hygiene is just as important in the state of Ihram as it is on other days. A common misconception is that a pilgrim can only take off their ihram clothes after the hajj/umrah rituals are done. This is not true at all. If your ihram clothes get dirty, you can change them.
- Bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, and other personal items, and don't let other pilgrims use them. This is for your health and safety.
- A pilgrim can use shampoo and shower gel to clean himself or herself while in the state of Ihram (as per the need). But it's important to remember that the toiletries you use should not have a scent, because you can't use scented things when you're in the state of Ihram.
Medicine
If you have a long-term illness, it's best to bring enough medicine to last you the whole time you're traveling internationally. Even so, you should also bring some precautionary medicines with you to treat things like headaches, stomachaches, coughs, etc.
clothing and shoes
- Every pilgrim must always bring at least two sets of Ihram clothes. So that if one gets dirty during the religious ceremonies, the other can be used.
- Bring two or three changes of clothes (to be worn after the holy rituals are completed). You might need them every day, like when you go to Ziyarath or stay in Madinah city.
- Makkah is still a hot desert city from a geographical point of view. So, the fabric used for Ihram should be a blend of cotton and something else. Not only would it keep you cool and airy, but it would also help you avoid rashes and sunburns.
These are some of the most basic but most important things you need to bring with you on a holy pilgrimage.
