Smith described the procedure as minorand is expected to be without a splint for the near future. This will not hinder him from participating in the offseason.

This is great news, considering that Smith has grown into one of the top safety players in the league. After for three years in the NFL, he's qualified for an extension, as indicated in the report. Smith states that he would like to stay with the Vikings however there isn't a lot of urgency to get a contract completed immediately.
