Kupp's breakout year in the Madden NFL 23 and LaVine's rise to the NBA seems as if they have nothing they share in Madden 23 Coins the same however, they actually grew up close to each other in Seattle. Reddit users found an old blog post on SB Nation Seattle that detailed the 2012 high school basketball match which featured LaVine against. Kupp in the state playoffs.

LaVine was a big basketball player in junior high school, and Kupp was a star footballer and a solid basketball player who was still seeking a scholarship when he was an older. Kupp's Davis Pirates knocked off LaVine's Bothell Cougars, with the future All-Pro receiver, who was instrumental in locking down the next NBA All-Star. With a trio of seniors The Pirates scored an astounding 65.4 percentage from their field. Senior Devonte Lucikett was the top scorer with 23 points on an impressive 11-for-15 shooting. The seniors Cooper Kupp and David Trimble each scored 13 and 19 points, respectively to the Pirates. Davis utilized a huge 41-23 rebounding edge to remain in the game and maintain their lead.

Zach Lavine, considered to be the best recruit across the country, was limited to just four points during the first quarter. Bothell had a difficult time getting any kind of offensive rhythm during Thursday's 4A quarterfinal game. Lavine scored 20 points, with the majority of them came in the moments when the game seemed out beyond the reach of Bothell. The Cougars were limited to 32.1 percent shooting during the game.

Kupp was to play football at Eastern Washington and eventually emerge as the school's top draft selection ever, in the third round in the 2017 draft.
