This April Fools' day surprise was no prank. After teasing that it was planning to incorporate an World of Warcraft joke into the WoTLK Gold April 1 World of Warcraft, Family Guy totally embraced the MMORPG and the most famous meme it ever spawned.

After being forced into joining when they were forced into the Coast Guard, Peter, Cleveland, and Joe find themselves in an encounter with a group of terrorist frat boys, because obviously. This is when Cleveland suggests they go for "what's called a Leeroy Jenkins." This is, obviously from the 2003 World of Warcraft staged viral video in which a player named Leeroy Jenkins fought in an extremely challenging fight with no warning, and caused the rest his family to follow and to be slaughtered.

That's precisely what Cleveland does next. He swoops in, guns blazing and screaming "Leeroy Jenkins!" and Peter along with Joe join him. Family Guy doesn't stop there however. The show also temporarily drops its animation style . It transforms into 3D-generated World of Warcraft -style view, complete with health bars and potions, among other things.

The ensuing fire follows, our heroes are quickly outgunned and retreat, but they are met by dragons. "Where did they find dragons? They're magical," Peter says. Much like the plot the game World of Warcraft , the strategy leaves the three men dead as Cleveland describes, "This World of Warcraft is full of internet-connected things."

There's no doubt about it: the Leeroy Jenkins humor has been performed to death over the last 15 years. But, Family Guy harnesses it in a pretty funny way and it's the attention to the smallest of details that allows it to work well. The fact that Joe and Peter create a plan of attack and crunch the numbers just as Leeroy's clanmates did in the original video, is a nice touch. Of course cheap WoTLK Gold, it's still not as exciting as the World of Warcraft : South Park did at the end of 2006; however, it could be a huge feat to top.
