The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Toronto Raptors 104–101 in overtime on Wednesday night, taking a commanding 3–0 lead in their first-round series. Joel Embiid hit a three-pointer with 0.8 seconds left in overtime to seal the victory for the 76ers.

As the shot clock wound down, Embiid received an inbounds pass from Danny Green and converted a turnaround shot from near the sideline before sprinting back to his bench in celebration.

Toronto's OG Anunoby was unable to connect on a shot before the buzzer sounded. Embiid finished with 33 points and 13 rebounds, assisting the 76ers in their comeback from a 17 point hole. The Rockets' James Harden finished with 19 points and 10 assists before fouling out in the final seconds of regulation.

Tyrese Maxey scored 19 points and Tobias Harris added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Sixers, who have a chance to finish up the series in Game 4 on Saturday at the Oracle Arena.

Anunoby led the Raptors with 26 points, while Gary Trent Jr. added a career-high 24 points and Precious Achiuwa added 20 points.

With 12 points apiece, Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet finished first and second, respectively. VanVleet finished with a 3-for-13 performance, including a 2-for-10 performance from three-point range.

Philadelphia never held a lead in regulation, but was able to take the lead in overtime on Maxey's shot with 3:27 left to play.

Anunoby's three-pointer gave the Raptors a brief lead back, but Embiid's jumper with 2:36 remaining gave the Sixers a 101–100 victory.

A foul by Embiid was called on Anunoby with 26 seconds left, and the Toronto forward made the first shot but failed to make the second, knotting the score at 101. Barnes missed his second consecutive game due to an injured left ankle that forced him to miss Game 1. Barnes had missed the first game due to the injury. Barnes is making progress, according to Raptors coach Nick Nurse, and could return as soon as Saturday.

After making at least 30 free throws in each of the series' first two games, the 76ers went 15 for 20 from the line in Game 3, with Joel Embiid converting six of his nine tries.

Trent was only able to play for 10 minutes in Game 2 due to illness, and he was unable to participate in the second half of the game play tic tac toe on Monday. He played 45 minutes on Wednesday and went 9 for 19 from the field.

With 2:03 left in the game, Toronto took a 95–90 lead on Achiuwa's shot to take a three-point lead at the half.

It was 95–94 when Maxey scored to make it a three-point game, then Anunoby was called for goaltending on Harden's shot with 1:14 left, lowering the deficit to three points. VanVleet fouled Harden with 49 seconds left in the game after the Sixers guard missed his first jumper before tying the game at 95-all with his second attempt.

Harden was whistled for a technical foul with 27 seconds left, sending Achiuwa to the free throw line, where he missed both attempts.

Philadelphia had two chances to win it in regulation, but Embiid missed a three-point attempt and Harris was unable to convert after retrieving the rebound after a failed three-point attempt.

The 76ers were without guard Matisse Thybulle, who was injured. Because Philadelphia's defensive specialist has not had a complete COVID-19 vaccination, he is ineligible to travel across the border to Canada. Thybulle was also absent from the Raptors' regular-season game against the Wizards on April 7. This was the first time the Raptors had hosted a postseason game north of the border since Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors. Even though the Warriors won that game, Kevin Durant suffered an Achilles tendon injury, and the Raptors went on to win the series in Game 6.
