Is Root Canal Treatment Worth the Cost?

Many people hesitate to undergo root canal treatment due to its cost, wondering if the investment is truly worth it. However, when compared to alternative treatments like tooth extraction and implants, a root canal is often the more cost-effective and beneficial choice.

A root canal saves the natural tooth, preventing the need for tooth extraction, which may initially seem like a cheaper option but comes with long-term consequences. Once a tooth is removed, it can lead to shifting of other teeth, bite misalignment, and difficulties in chewing. To replace the missing tooth, a dental implant or bridge is required, which can be far more expensive than a root canal.

For instance, a dental implant costs between ₹25,000 and ₹60,000 per tooth, while a dental bridge costs between ₹10,000 and ₹30,000. These alternatives require more extensive procedures, multiple visits, and higher expenses over time.

By opting for a root canal, patients can preserve their natural tooth and avoid additional costs. Even though a crown may be necessary after the procedure, the overall expense is still lower than replacing the tooth entirely.

Additionally, many insurance plans cover part of the root canal cost, reducing the financial burden on patients. Even if insurance is not available, many dental clinics offer EMI payment options to make the procedure more affordable.

Overall, while root canal treatment costs may seem high initially, it is a long-term investment in maintaining good oral health and preventing costly complications in the future.
