STEPHANIE & DAMIEN: REAL BRIDE STORY

We are generally South Africans residing in the Netherlands therefore we went venue hunting quickly when returning to SA following a holiday in Mauritius where we've got engaged. Lace on Timber was around the top of my venue list and we fell much more in love with it whenever we first visited.

Damien proposed in my experience while on vacation in Mauritius with my loved ones. As we live abroad, family time is special to us, to have my loved ones there for that big moment made it much more amazing. He had planned to get it done on the beach at sunset right before dinner, which I thought ended up being to celebrate my sister's graduation from Medical school. We walked on the beach in which a setup with lights and champagne was awaiting us. I thought this scene was set for another person so kept saying we ought to stay away from it. It was only if I turned around to determine him on a single knee asking me to marry him most abundant in the beautiful ring did I realize it had been for us! My sister seemed to be hidden away to take a few photos of people and capture them as soon as.

As for selecting my wedding gown, I thought I was searching for simple wedding dresses to cover my hips but was left with something different. I am so glad that I was available to try on different styles and ask professionals at the store the things they thought would look best.

I tried on around 10 different dresses at one store. As we were built with a short timeline close to 6 months I didn't have enough time to fly to SA to go wedding gown shopping with my mom and sister but I was lucky that I were built with a group of amazing friends within the Netherlands who included me and could video call my mom and sister to ensure they were included in as soon as.

I bought the gown from FeelTimes. As it had been a winter wedding, I and also the bridesmaids wore faux fur wraps for that afternoon and leather jackets because it got colder within the evening. I had diamond earrings along with a bracelet which would be a wedding gift from my hubby. Here

As for that planning, I was engaged in December and married the next July therefore we didn’t have long to plan. I think this managed to get easier to make quick decisions once we didn't have enough time to search for alternatives. We just asked ourselves, will it go with the appearance we want, will it fit our budget, are we able to get it for the timeline? Any "no" answers meant that it had been automatically excluded. As I was planning in the Netherlands for marriage in South Africa, we had to trust people who were helping us. My mom and sister were amazing! They accomplished it much for all of us and it all ended up perfectly. I think with DIY projects where family members are helping, the best way forward is to you need to be very honest about what you want and also to be grateful for that effort individuals are willing to place in. We were extremely grateful for the expertise and guidance which originated from all our vendors, we could fully trust that they'll bring their best for the day.

I thought the marriage would be by pointing out love Damien and I share and cherish, but in addition, we floated on love the whole week leading up towards the wedding. We were so grateful to become surrounded by people who sent a lot of love and finest wishes, people who love us so deeply they traveled all the method to celebrate around and people who spent weeks preparing every little detail for all of us. We were thankful for people who pour their love and passion into their work which made our day incredible. It was this kind of amazing method to start our wedded life together enveloped in most of that love.

My husband is a huge golf fanatic and some of his favorite parts (aside from gaining a wife) were the custom printed baseballs and putting green that was available as a lawn game. He also enjoyed having his favorite South African beer on tap to savor with his friends.

I loved that people asked our photographers to pay attention to family moments rather than formal portraits. We kept the bridal photography session short to find the shots we wanted so that people could rather spend our day with those we love rather than away in the party taking photos.
