Issues like low awareness, delayed transport, shortages, cost and lack of trained staff compromise optimal usage. Also, anti-venoms have a limited shelf life of 1-2 years requiring continuous production and strict temperature-controlled distribution. Development of alternative treatment approaches addresses challenges with traditional anti-venoms which remain difficult to manufacture and distribute effectively worldwide. Ongoing research aims to develop long acting anti-venoms, recombinant antibodies and small molecule therapies for expanding snakebite treatment accessibility globally.
