How Does Lufthansa Airlines Pet Policy Work | SkyFareRules
If your pet fulfils Lufthansa Airlines pet travel policy and is small enough to fit into the cabin of a passenger flight, it can travel with you as carry-on baggage. However, only dogs and cats weighing no more than 8kg including the weight of the transport container may do so.
Any pets travelling as carry-on must be stored in a soft-sided carrier that is airline approved and does not measure more than 55x40x23cm. It must be escape-proof, leak-proof and bite-proof and contain an absorbent lining. The carrier must also be securely fastened and you will need to present proof that your pet meets these requirements at check-in.
Alternatively, your pet can travel in the cargo hold of a Lufthansa Airlines flight as excess baggage or cargo, provided that it is compliant with the import and export rules for the country you are relocating to and departing from. For example, if your pet is of a fighting breed or snub-nosed animal then special rules apply and they are only permitted to travel in the hold if they have a medical certificate that proves that this is necessary.
