Tottenham need to address 'defensive anxiety', fail to add CBs

Newcastle United have made a move for Tottenham Hotspur target Tosin Adarabioyo.

Born in 1997, Adarabioyo is an outstanding center back for Fulham. At 6-foot-2, he is a dominant aerial presence and is flexible and quick for his size, which allows him to cover the space behind the defense. His height also makes him a threatening option in set-piece situations.

A former Manchester City youth product, Adarabioyo spent time at West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers before settling in at Fulham for the 2021-22 season. He made 41 appearances in the English Championship (second division) in 2021-22 and started 25 games in the Premier League last season.

He's been a regular this season as well. He missed the beginning of the season due to injury, but hasn't missed a game since returning. He has started 18 league games and scored two goals. Adarabioyo's defense has helped Fulham minimize their goals despite being a mid-table team. Sitting in 13th place, Fulham have conceded 55 league goals this season. That's tied with seventh-place Newcastle and fewer than eighth-place West Ham United (65).

Adarabioyo is the center back Tottenham are targeting. Cristian Romero and Micky van der Vaal are solid, but they're not enough to juggle league, European, and cup competitions. Radu Dragusin was 토토사이트 brought in during the winter transfer window, but it's still not enough. Enze Postecoglou has used the likes of Ben Davies and Emmerson Royal as center backs, but they are essentially fullbacks.

Newcastle have also joined the chase, with Tottenham keeping tabs. "Newcastle are on the verge of signing Fulham defender Adarabioyo on a free transfer," The Sun reported on January 1 (KST). Adarabioyo has been offered a long-term contract worth more than £100,000 a week ($170 million)," the Sun reported. Newcastle are also in need of center-back reinforcements after the injury to Sven Boateng.

It doesn't end there. Manchester United, who are expected to undergo a major squad overhaul at the end of the season, are also targeting Adarabioyo. Rafael Varane and Jonny Evans are expected to leave the club this summer.
