You know, I get this nowadays most of us recognize Ike and Marth as having completely different playstyles, but as a player who began sometimes playing Brawl in my friend's house, I had a lot of Animal Crossing Items difficulty telling apart Marth out of Ike. With Byleth, even casuals can tell them apart thanks to their strong bow, lance, Warlock Punch-like down particular, and alts, but as a total casual, the only thing I remembered about Ike and Marth out of using them at Subspace was that one of these felt stronger and a little more fun.

Even though Ike is not a Marth clone, I believe it can be trying for absolute casuals who have only played them to articulate what makes them different. I believe Sakurai realized this, which explains why he decided to proceed with Robin as the brand new FE rep for Smash 4 rather than Chrom and none of the non-echo FE characters have relied entirely on sword moves since then.

The shift to older Ike in Smash4 also helped to differentiate him Marth. I really don't know why they made young Ike the default in Ultimate (although I like his young layout better).

Forum-style is honestly much better in some ways. I truly hate how smash info is currently distributed in various WordPress threads in which you have to adhere to the right number of individuals to even access and then you also can't get or read good longform discussion. Looking for old information on twitter is also a massive pain in the buttocks.

I was around when the Brawl dojo was a thing and recall a great deal of the parting from Brawl's hayday. The largest turnaround for me has ever been Subspace, it was broadly despised back in the day but now it seems hot.

Folks are always the exact same but the context varies. Back then, we did not have the history of nintendo and nintendo universes clashing as we do now. Back then folks will observe the Buy Nook Miles Ticket two entirely different genres and be hesitant concerning cross overs. Obviously we view it as ridiculous now but perhaps back then we would see it with care.
