With the release window for eve echoes isk this ambitious cellphone MMO now set in stone, we chose the opportunity to speak to some of the developers that created EVE Echoes possible. Sit in front of the camera to watch Wei Su, Senior Producer in NetEase Games, Shicheng Zhou, Game Designer in NetEase Games, and Bing Xi, General Manager CCP Shanghai Prepared to talk about EVE Echoes was a stark reminder of how profoundly unique this project is. EVE Echoes is the end result of a strategic partnership between both NetEase and CCP and marks a fresh spin away for an IP that has weathered the storm when it comes to online gambling. Driven by a love of the EVE universe and a very seasoned team at NetEase, EVE Echoes is set to squeeze all the excitement of the mainstay EVE encounter onto iOS and Android apparatus this August.

For CCP, this represents a huge divergence in their center clientele and it is not like DUST 541 was a chart-topping success, therefore we asked if it was a difficult decision to begin development of this mobile experience. According to Bing Xi, it was a very easy call to make.

"This was not a tricky discussion at all. EVE has been around for 20 years now and we've always looked to expand the world on as many platforms as you can. We've obviously had DUST 541 and now we are searching to launch into mobile. Since EVE on the internet is such a large game with over a decade of content, we do not underestimate how big an effort which makes EVE mobile. If we ever want to do something it needs to be up to those expectations and suits the fan base. "We wanted to do this however, it was never going to be easy. Wei Su approach us back in 2015 with the idea to bring EVE to mobile and we sat down and talked to them. We got to know who they were and found out that this was not just any other development group form NetEase. This was the group behind Westward Journey Online 2.

"Westward Journey Online two has been a leading grade MMO in China for over 18 decades and it was made by precisely the exact same set of developers. This group has the expertise they know how to craft great games that stand the test of time. They even built a mobile version of the exact same sport that's also extremely common. We told me a lot about the group and gave us lots of assurance that they may deliver." As soon as it's easy to throw around the accusation of money grab at many mobile conversions, it's telling that Wei Su is a hard-core OG EVE player who heads the same team that initially approached CCP about becoming EVE out to a new crowd. He noted that,

"When we began to consider EVE Echoes we wish to enlarge the effect of the EVE world, bringing it to plenty of fresh players across the mobile sector. Just as much, we want to undertake the challenge of bringing this fresh mix of player driven markets and buy eve isk hardcore PvP distance battles to mobile gamers. "
