As a consequence people who dislike RS3 lore really ARE idiots- obviously they would not appreciate, for example, the RS gold humor in Guthix's existential dying phrases"Player....Forget me" Which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now only imagining among these addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Mod Ana's genius unfolds itself on their comupter displays.?? And yes by the way, I DO have a Sliske tattoo. And no, you can't see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they must demonstrate that they are in 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

I can relate to this impression that the gods were these beings back in the afternoon. Wielding a Zammy book made you feel like you had a bit of greatness. Whereas since I have mastered it was disappointing to hear people are literally farming gods, I'm not in end game so can't comment too much, but it just does not feel right. I adored (and lately re-love) RuneScape because it's so chill and you can just go and take the role as a very simple fisherman for a few hours since you really feel like it. I don't need to be the saviour of the planet slaughtering gods amongst hordes of additional players/demigods. However, I am probably older than the average playerbase at this point. Playerbase react positive to the god complicated thing, it's certainly the trend in MMOs.

Pretty much everything you've said and I agree. While Guthix Sleeps is my RS3 quest, and you will find other 5th era ones that I would like OSRS to perform their spin, such as portion of those Mahjarrat. The World Wakes, and the hasty entrance into the era was when I lost interest. I feel that set me off RuneScape match more. I must say I like what they did with all the gods.

I agree with a lot of everything you are saying, but I feel as though your entire concept that the player shouldn't be significant or a"main character" in an MMO is totally off base. The whole purpose of this development of quests is that you progress toward some thing, like being a saviour etc.. And even with that we're already at that point in OSRS. In MM2 we prevent a plot to ruin the whole world, in song of the elves we kill the fragment of a real GOD to save an entire race, I really could proceed.

All these big grand master quests need us to be important to the plot, otherwise there would not be any point in the pursuit existing, it would just be endless exposition and cut scenes because we watched someone else solve the issue. And as for the whole gods becoming somewhat less mysterious and powerful it was bound to occur, the whole point of creating enigma and awe about these characters would be to eventually utilise it in cheap RuneScape gold some way, it was only natural they would want to make something larger to take it's place afterwards.
